City Activity

Thursday July 2nd, the activity committee organized our annual Asterix City activity, corona-proof this year!

We all had to gather around the Klokgebouw in Strijp-S with a bag, a raincoat and a good bike (preferably not a student bike that keeps falling apart every km).

Small groups were formed and left one-by-one with some snacks and a clue for a location in Eindhoven to go to. Arriving at a correct location, to find the next location, each group had to answer a question correctly (including some rather specific mathematics not solvable for people not studying electrical engineering…), or perform a specific task (like dancing - not possible for anyone studying electronic engineering, taking a picture or drawing with chalk).

We even had to do a mini hike, where the route was explained with specific trees, stones and even flowers (‘go right after the big purple flower’, which someone must have picked, as there clearly was no purple flower). Some tried to cycle this hike to win some time but got stuck as it was difficult to climb over barbed wire and go over a narrow bridge with a bike.

Eventually, everyone cycled more than 16km (some on student bikes with occasional stops to mend the brakes or put a chain back on) and had seen a lot of Eindhoven they would otherwise never see.

We all ended up in Philips de Jongh park (some groups quicker than others - 2 hours vs 4 hours) and enjoyed some beers and more snacks.

A good start of the summer holiday!
