What a weekend! On Easter Monday, several Gauls decided to skip the Easter lunch and go to competitions in Vught and Helmond instead. There were many solid performances this early in the season already, with two club records as a result. A good start to what is sure to be a great season.

Most Gauls went to Vught. Jordi ran his first 600m in years. Leading from gun to tape, he ran 1.27.57. Looks like we will see him breaking two minutes in the 800m again this year!

Our treasurer Boudewijn competed in two events. In the 110 meter hurdles, he broke his personal record by running 18.66 against a head wind of -1.2m/s! Four hours later he returned to the track to fly over 1.85m in the high jump. A man of many talents.

Rik, one of the trainers of our technical group, showed he is still one of Asterix’s best javelin throwers. He threw the javelin to a distance of 44.45m.

I started this blog by stating two club records were broken today. In Vught, Oscar managed to improve upon his own club record by throwing 12.88m. What a beast the man is.

Oscar’s record-breaking throw in the shot put. Wow!

Amazing throw from Oscar. He’s edging closer and closer to the 13 meter mark.

Meanwhile in Helmond, Jens broke the over thirty years old record in the mile by two seconds. He clocked a time of 4.12.87, with his nearest competitor about 50 seconds behind.

Focus on your race, not your watch! You’ll be away a lot faster that way 😉
This picture was probably taken during the second lap. With the progression of the race also came increasingly ugly faces 😛

Upcoming Friday, multiple Gauls will be competing in Tilburg and in Utrecht. After today, we’re looking forward to seeing more Gauls smashing their personal records! Remember to Outrun, Outlast and Outpurple!
